Generally, propolis is composed of 50-60% of a resin and a vegetable balm, 30-40% of waxes, 5-10% of an essential oil and 3-5% of various substances. The chemical compounds present are various: flavonoids (galangin, pinocembrin, quercetin, etc.), aromatic hydroxy acids and their esters.
