Artemis belongs to the Asteraceae family and is native to temperate areas of Europe, Asia, and North Africa.
It is an evergreen herbaceous plant, 1–2 m tall with woody roots. The erect stem has a purplish-red tinge with small, many-petalled yellow flowers.
It has numerous flower heads that open in racemose panicles.
In traditional Chinese medicine, the pulverized and compressed powder of the plant forms the so-called moxas used in the moxibustion technique.
Historically, the AE of Artemis has been valued for its properties such as:
Mucolytic, Anti-inflammatory, Antispasmodic, Analgesic, Vermifuge.
